Prosperity North Carolina, Together With The Courtney Jordan Foundation, Announces Free Immigration Services For Undocumented Immigrants.
Siler City – Prosperity North Carolina (PNC) in partnership with The Courtney Jordan Foundation (CJF) made the announcement today, that they are committing to covering the costs for one hundred undocumented residents each year to be naturalized.
“This will be an annual goal set forth as a major program known as the “Open Door Project,'' says CJF Sr. Vice President of North American Special Programs, Kristen Picot.
“It is after establishing another major program to help build businesses in Siler City and being in the hot bed of discrimination and racism that exists in Chatham County, that I got to know the people of Siler City. Seeing how much in fear these people are, I find it to be deplorable and inhumane.”
“The Hispanic/Latino population, along with the African-American population, make up the majority of those who live in the rural town of Siler City. They are underrepresented, as such they are the last to know about any major things that affect them in negative ways.”
Nick Gallardo, the Vice Chair of Prosperity North Carolina adds: “A big part of why they do not get involved in any substantive conversation about policy is because they fear ICE. Project Open Door will give back power to the Hispanic community through voting and making sure their voices are heard.“
“We will be partnering with local law firms, which will work in conjunction with our General Counsel, to make sure the process is done correctly. Over the last months we have worked hard on putting together the infrastructure to accommodate the anticipated interest in the Open Door Project” states Picot.
